The week leading up to the release of an album is usually a pretty damn busy week for an artist, and that’s especially true for Tech N9ne and his magnum opus Something Else. While in New York City for a monstrous round of press appearances that would make the most weathered celebrity want to duck and hide, Tech held a listening party for his upcoming album at S.O.B.’s.
While almost all of us probably would have given anything to be there, XXL has given us the next best thing by covering the event in detail! Not only did the night consist of a lucky group of people getting to hear the album in it’s entirety a week early, later in the night Angela Yee from Power 105.1 hosted a Q&A with the K.O.D., in which Tech openly addressed some of the darker subjects in his songs:
I said some things in a couple of songs that I had to apologize for at the end of the song. There are things you write about where you try to protect your loved ones, and some of these things I let loose on this album. And I had to apologize. And I knew I had to do it, because I called the album Something Else. So I had to give something else from what’s stored in that deep, dark part of my brain.
Tech N9ne is once again at the center of attention as anticipation surrounds the release of Something Else, and this is only the beginning. Much love to XXL for covering the hugely successful night in such vivid detail!
